German chemical group Wacker released its latest development of pharmaceutical-grade high-viscosity silicone adhesive Silpuran 2117 at the 25th European Wound Management Association (EWMA) conference in London this week. This product will be used to produce skin-friendly adhesives for advanced wound care. Dressings made using this type of high-purity silicone adhesive gel are reliable, durable, soft and elastic, and can effectively prevent damage to the human body when the dressing is replaced.
The formula of this product is high-viscosity waterproof silicone that can directly contact the skin and prevent allergies. It is also highly breathable and can effectively protect the wound site from bacterial infection. The product does not cause damage or pain to the wound or surrounding skin when removed from the body after use. Silpuran 2117 has good chemical inertness and heat resistance, and can remain stable in the temperature range of -50°C to 200°C. This biocompatible adhesive is free of organic plasticizers and stabilizers and is ISO 10993 and USP Class VI certified.
Unlike other Silpuran materials of the same class, Silpuran 2117 is manufactured, filled and packaged in an ISO Class 8 clean room that meets WACKER’s indoor standards for medical raw materials.
